10 days and counting...
In just 10 days we'll be embarking on the next phase of our adventure as SV Howdoo will be all finished and ready to be taken to sea.
Last newsletter stated that the handover would be delayed. Fortunately the shipyard and dealer were able to shave some time off so we can step onboard on April 13th OMG, It’s getting very real very soon!
Here she is outside the yard, with a fresh layer of coppercoat to keep her bottom smooth….
Our kids have special permission from school to be part of this memorable moment, and will have the honor to christen the boat, keep an eye out for the video 🥳
After the festivities we have a full day planned to get up to speed on all the technical systems onboard and another day out a sea to test the engines and sails. If everything goes well the family will then say farewell to Captain Tom as he’ll be part of the delivery crew to bring Howdoo to Barcelona for fitting the solar panels, batteries and the watermaker. We’re expecting to arrive about 10-14 days later, depending on the weather conditions.
We've ordered starlink (internet via satellite) and if it arrives on time 🤞, we’ll be able to keep you all up to date on the progress and everything I’ve learned underway. Including statistics on seasickness and minutes of sleep.
